As one of the most vibrant European capitals, Moscow is a powerful mix of history and edginess, full of world-famous sites and attractions. Russia’s capital has been in existence for more than 800 years and has enough to keep visitors busy for months.

While sightseeing Moscow’ s popular landmarks should be on anyone’s travelling itinerary, the city also offers a number of alternative and recommended options to enhance any visit to the capital.

Explore the neighborhood of Kitai Gorod which rivals Red Square in architectural beauty, without the excessive crowds. A walk along Varvarka Street (heading east from the rear of St. Basil’s) leads past centuries-old churches into Kitai Gorod.

When in Moscow, take the Metro. Moscow’s subway system is one of the biggest in the world. Every corner of the city is accessible via numerous metro stations, and each of these is a work of art, initially intended to be Soviet-inspired “Palaces for the People.”

But definitely, you must walk around the Red Square, visit the Cathedral of St. Basil and the Moscow Kremlin, enjoy the Moskva River, stroll along old streets, buy souvenirs in Izmailovo market.
